"Open Project" default folder.

Hello,
:?: Is it possible to change the default folder in the "Open Project" dialog?
It currently defaults to "C:\Users\Jim" folder. I would like to change the path to the folder where I keep my .VcProject template files.
TIA
Jim

Re: "Open Project" default folder.

right-click on the VERICUT icon on your desktop
Properties
Start in = C:\Users\Jim  ----> change it to the folder you want

The specified folder will always be Working Directory for the session.

You can even create a new icons for multiple work locations.

Re: "Open Project" default folder.

OUTSTANDING!!!......Thanks a lot Serge. big_smile

While we're on the subject, there's a couple of questions I have.

1. In the same dialog, there is the Shortcut pop-up menu.
Can these menu items be changed or even omitted?
I don't have any need for the Samples, Showroom and Training folders. I would like to replace them with folders I use on a daily basis.

2. I have my preferences set to "Choose project file on startup".
If I startup Vericut and the Open Project dialog appears, shouldn't Vericut close if I decide not to continue and press the Cancel button?
Instead Vericut loads up the default .VcProject and I have to wait until it is open before quitting. Doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway,
Thanks again for your help.

Re: "Open Project" default folder.

To have another directory listed along with Library, Samples, Showroom, and Training add this to your cgtenv.bat file:

        set CGTECH_MyStuff=D:\MyPath\

where MyStuff is whatever name you want
and D:\MyPath\ is the desired fully qualified directory name.

We've used this for years to get to our master files.

Add several of these if you need more than one.

Re: "Open Project" default folder.

Hey Jerry,
Thanks for your reply, but I seem to be having some problems making this work.

I'm able to add in the path as you stated, but when I try to save it, I get this message:

Cannot create the C:\Program Files\CGTech\windows\commands\cgtenv.bat file.

Make sure that the path and file name are correct.

I've tried this several times and tried different folders.
What am I doing wrong?
TIA
Jim

Re: "Open Project" default folder.

OK...got it to work...nice...it's the little things that make me happy. big_smile

Dave,
You were close, but you helped a blind squirrel find a nut. lol
The properties write protect was already unchecked, so I tried the Security tab and changed the user permissions to allow full control and it worked. yikes

Thanks Dave and Jerry for your help.
