UG tool libraries to Vericut

Hello everyone
I just came out of retirement and have a lot of catching up to do.  My new employer has purchased 1 copy of vericut (with UG interface).  They have a huge Unigraphics tool library that I would like to transfer into Vericut.  Can this be done?  Can just sections of the library be transfered?

  Thanks   Rich

Re: UG tool libraries to Vericut

Rich,

As far as i know this cannot be done in a simple way. Perhaps with some fancy VB or TCL programming.
At our company we use WinTool toolmanagement software. With this you can generate the UG & Vericut toollibraries when you add a tool to the database. We use this software to prevent recreating tools over and over.

Good luck,

Hi,

I'm very curious about how you use WinTool. I have plans to build a big tool library from where the users can use "Reference".
Can you explain a bit further how you use it?

Thanks

Svante

Re: UG tool libraries to Vericut

WinTool is based on an access database, in wich components (cutting tools, holders, insert, ...) are defined by specifying the component parameters. A drawing of the component can be automatically generated or imported into WinTool.
The components can be assembled to get a machine specific tool assembly. With this assembly you can store different cutting conditions for multiple materials.
The tool assemblies can be grouped on a part specific toollist.
WinTool can generate from the tool assembly a vericut library and a UG model by rotating the profile of the cutting part and the holder part.
When you want to use a user defined vericut/UG model, you can store the path to that model with the tool assembly.
From the toollist WinTool can export a presetting file witch can be imported on a Zoller or Kelch presetting device.
WinTool can also manage the stock, purchase and usage of components.

We choose for WinTool because as a midrange company like us cannot affort to buy a "Heavy" system like TDM, and WinTool provides all the functionallity we were looking fore.
