Re: Botched Update

Am I missing something? The readme file said backup this file copy this to here and copy this to here. There is no language pulldown or uninstall or install for that matter.

Re: Botched Update

when you put in the 5.4.5 cd, the plug&play fires up.

the 1st window you see before you do anything has an OK button.

just to the left of that is a pulldown menu that start in English.
you might have hit it by accident going for the OK button?

I am not sure if you need to uninstall before reinstalling.

a moderator can answer that

try reinstalling without uninstall 1st

if not, ad/ remove programs, uninstall

support@cgtech can help if you get stuck

Re: Botched Update

It was the download not the cd. Since the download does not have a "Install Program" there is not unistall. Here are the direction:

12/23/2005

Instructions to apply 545_win.zip:

After downloading this file

1. Browse to your current VERICUT 5.4 installation directory ...\CGTech54\windows\vericut\. Rename the file CGTech.dll to CGTech_544.dll.

2. For Windows 98, NT and 2000: Use Winzip or another appropriate zip utility, and unzip the file CGTech.dll into your current VERICUT 5.4 installation in the ...\CGTech54\windows\vericut\ directory.

For Windows XP: Using the internal extractor, open the zip folder, double-click to open the windows and vericut folders, drag CGTech.dll into the ...\CGTech54\windows\vericut folder of your current installation. Answer yes to replace the existing file.

3. Copy the directory ...\CGTech54\classes to ...\CGTech54\classes_544.

4. For Windows 98, NT and 2000: Use Winzip or another appropriate zip utility, and unzip the .class files and CGTech.jar file into your current VERICUT 5.4 installation in the ...\CGTech54\classes\ directory. Answer yes to replace all files.

For Windows XP: Using the internal extractor, open the zip folder, double-click to open the classes folder, select all files and drag them into the ...\CGTech54\classes folder of your current installation. Answer yes to replace all files.

5. For Windows 98, NT and 2000: Use Winzip or another appropriate zip utility, and unzip the VcRes.local file into your current VERICUT 5.4 installation in the ...\CGTech54\classes\english\ directory. Answer yes to replace the existing file.

For Windows XP: this step was accomplished via #4 above.

You should now have access to VERICUT 5.4.5.

Took me a bit but I got it figured out. For some reason there is 3 VcRes.Local* file on the download. You have to be sure the newest one is the only one coppied. If you let it over write you will get the wrong one and the above error.

Re: Botched Update

You can avoid to re-install.

With the point release update, the Classes folder is getting replaced. Under this folder, there is a folder with the different languages Rescource files. These files link the menu text to the real menu command.

Somehow, you must have replaced this file in the English folder. If you still have the zip file, you can extract only this file. The file is named VcRes.local and has the same name for every language. So make sure you select the file under the English folder.

Re: Botched Update

OK got it now. My Winzip is messing with me it does not show sub directorys. So all I see is six files named VcRes.Local. If you drag and drop it will overwrite in a random order. If you use extract it builds the subs and it works good. thanks.
