Default setting to be changed

Hi,
Can we make such a default setting.

In vericut by default, setup->Motion->display holders in workpiece view, is not toggled on when ever vericut is started.

If i need that to be toggled whats the procedure.

Please let me know on the same..

Is there any default setting file which can be modified by us and do setting as per user.

Thanks and Regards

Re: Default setting to be changed

When you go FILE+ NEWSESSION, it opens a file called INIT.USR

What I did is go thru all the pulldowns, and set all my favorite settings

File properties, colors, apt setting, motions, etc.

Than save the file with the same name.

After that, at the start of each new job go  FILE+ NEWSESSION, and it opens that file with all the settings the way I like them.

the location of the files is
C:\cgtech544\library

I recomend you make a copy before doing this.

hope this helps.

Re: Default setting to be changed

Hi Umesh,

There may be a different seed file for interfaces. I don?t know.  :?

Hopefully one of the CGTech moderators can answer that question.

If not, it would be a good enhancement.

Anyway, to do it with the Vericut we have today, I suggest using ADDUSER Files.

These files have a portion of a user file 1 or 2 or 6 or any number of settings from the user file.

In your instance, use some file compare software to see the actual lines in the INIT.USR user file that changed, from when you altered your favorite setting.

Cut and paste those lines into a new file called INTERFACE_ADD.USR.

Is should look like this with some example I stuck in:

VERICUT-user
Version-5.4

<--- paste  User variables/values go here
FAST_FEEDRATE_THRESHOLD       . . . . . . .          FASTFEED 11
TOOLPATH_SOURCE_TYPE            . . . . . . .    TPSRCT   CATIA_APT
AUTO-DIFF_SOLID_GOUGE_TOL    . . . . . . .     ADSOLGO  0.002
END_USER_FILE

(green is mandatory)

1st Open the usr file created by the cad/cam interface.

Than open the INTERFACE_ADD.USR.

Press MERGE      >>> this will apply all settings in the INTERFACE_ADD.USR file

You are ready to go

USR files have a lot of good stuff in them.

If you are not familiar with them, I recommend you print one out, and study it.

Many of the names are intuitively obvious. Some are not.

I hear there will be a new USR  file format in V6.0, but its still good stuff to know what in there.

Have fun

My favorite CGTech AE tells me:

ug_init.usr, ug_initm.usr

Re: Default setting to be changed

Hi Dave.

Yes, your suggestion also solved my issue. Firstly I was looking for another solution, because we use to turn off / on optipath inside of the aptsource file and after post process this aptsource file, we use to simulate the G-Code, as it, I was planing to modify these options in this G-Code file and creating customized files for each machine. Now I will use your suggestion and we will just change some small items, like "fast feed" inside of the NC file.

For Vericut V6.0x, the small diference (as you already told) is in the file name that now is init_.VcProject instead of init.usr, however inside of this file still easy to identify the check box options and to modify it´s.

Best Regards from Brazil and still machining our parts, okay  8)
