W Axis on Devlieg

I'm trying to set up a new (old!) Devlieg 4K92 we bought.  We're rebuilding the entire machine, new drives, new controls, etc.  We've added ball screws to W and Z as well as scales to XY.  It has XYZ and W axes.

As built, Z is the quill and W is the table.  We're going to reverse that so we use the quill for positioning (W) and do all of our Z moves except drilling with the table.  Better tool rigidity this way, only hanging the quill out when absolutely necessary.

Our best programmer has defined the machine (no geometry) with Y carrrying W and W carrying the spindle.  The tool control point is not being set to the gauge offset when set up this way, it is on the spindle face.  If we put the spindle right on Y it works correctly.

How do I get around this?

Re: W Axis on Devlieg

By Default, VERICUT will look up the first linear axis along the Z in the component tree to apply the Tool offset. In your case it finds W.

You need to apply the offset to the Z axis.

In Setup > Control > Adv. Options; Event tab
Start of Processing
add the macro:
ZToolOffsetCompName, with Override Text=Z
