I have two versions of Vericut on my computer for reasons from above. One version for lathe work and a different version for mill work. Is there a way to double click on a file and have it open with the correct version of Vericut???

How should windows know which Vericut version to launch?

You can define different options in the right-mouse context menu, but you need to have some experience in using Registry files.
sample:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\vcprjfile]
@="Vericut Project"
"EditFlags"=hex:00,00,00,00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\vcprjfile\Shell]
@=""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\vcprjfile\Shell\Open]
@="Open in V9.2.2"
"icon"="C:\\Program Files\\cgtech\\VERICUT 9.2.2\\windows64\\vericut\\vericut.ico,0"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\vcprjfile\Shell\Open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\cgtech\\VERICUT 9.2.2\\windows64\\commands\\vericut.bat\" \"vcp=%1\""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\vcprjfile\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files\\cgtech\\VERICUT 9.2.2\\windows64\\commands\\vericut.ico,0"
; Define Second Open option (Open2)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\vcprjfile\Shell\Open2]
@="Open in V1.1.1"
"icon"="C:\\Program Files\\cgtech\\VERICUT 1.1.1\\windows64\\vericut\\vericut.ico,0"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\vcprjfile\Shell\Open2\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\cgtech\\VERICUT 1.1.1\\windows64\\commands\\vericut.bat\" \"vcp=%1\""
