Tool change by tool ID

Hello All,

Is there any possibility to assign tool numbers to tool pockets for machines using tool ID in T word not the pocket number? (eg. T123456 in tool pocket #1)

Re: Tool change by tool ID

Setup > Toolpath
Tool Change By = List
Build Tool List

-- associate the event (pocket number) with the desired tool ID

Re: Tool change by tool ID

Thank you for your help.
But I've some other problems. I'm using Vericut with Pro/ENGINEER and the Pro/E interface creates tool list by Pro/E pocket numbers (in this case it is Tool ID) so the tool code in the tool manager is #12345. In the CNC program the tool change sequence contains the tool ID too (T12345). But this tool is in pocket #1. Vericut wants to put the #12345 tool into the #12345 pocket in the tool magazine but it is not available (there are only 40 tool pockets in the magazine). I have a subroutine to drive the tool changer and it uses the T value for rotate the tool magazine. I did not find the proper macros to transfer pocket number to the tool change subroutine instead of T value, and I don't know how to put the #12345 tool into #1 pocket.

Best regards,

Attila

Re: Tool change by tool ID

Can you use the Advance Control Options "Substitute" and change the T12345 to T1 or vice-versa?

Re: Tool change by tool ID

I hate to come back to VERICUT 5.4 (since you have 5.3  sad ) but for everyone's benefits, I will explain what is available in the current software.

in 5.3 you can associate an event T1 M6  with a different tool from your tool library as I explained before. In 5.4, when we implemented the Tool Chain, we also improved the Tool List to define the Initial Pocket for each tool.
