Hi. As a new user, I have noticed that in order to prove out 4 axis jobs we maintain a "standard machine file" so that we can build up from the B Axis table, the fixtures and cut stock. It appears that once the copy of the original basic machine is made that the link to the "standard machine file" is lost. If for some reason we discover an basic machine error, (as happend some days ago), we are faced with crawling through copies of the machine tool file, to make the adustment. Could we have a BASIC MACHINE file which maintains its children upto a certain point in the component tree? In my case it would be as far as the B Axis in one branch and the Spindle in the other branch of the comonent tree.
Thanks

Hello Peter,
The stock and fixture components position and orientation are saved in the machine files, but the models associated with them are saved in the User file.
To avoid the need to change the machine with every jobs, I would recommend locating the fixture and stock components in the center of the B axis. Then for each job, locate the models for the fixture and stock. If you do not move the component, the machine will not require to be changed.
Note: in 6.0, the stock and fixture components will be saved with the job, not the machine file. It will facilitate multiple operations.

Are you saying that the .job file is coming back, or is "job" the old name being used on a new function?

Think this should have read "user file" i.e. job related not machine related.

Thank you Gavin,
That's exactly what I meant. In 6.0 you will have the ability to define multiple setups (different positions or different machines) all within a single session. This is why we separated what is job related (setup) and what is relative to the machine.
