Note: This only applies to 6.0. It was fixed in 6.0.2.
From VERICUT 6.0 Release Notes:
ATTENTION: Customers using SGI/IRIX (any version), Sun/Solaris 8 or 9, or IBM/RS6000/AIX 4.4 or 5.0 for your VERICUT license server.
If you are serving licenses to Windows computers from one of the platform/operating systems shown above, upgrading to VERICUT 6.0 requires you move the license server to a different platform type or operating system version. Valid license server platforms for Windows license clients are:
Windows, HP-UX (any version)
Sun/Solaris 10
IBM/RS6000/AIX (5.1 or later)
VERICUT 6.0 runs on SGI/IRIX, Sun/Solaris 8 or 9, or IBM/RS6000/AIX 4.4 or 5.0, and it can obtain a license from any VERICUT license server. But a license server on these platforms cannot provide licenses to VERICUT 6.0 on Windows.
Please go to http://cgtech.com/license/license_fm.htm and submit a License Transfer Request in order to move your license server from one of the UNIX platforms listed above to another platform or operating system version. Note on the form this is for VERICUT 6.0.

Our Vericut installation is serving licenses to both windows and UNIX platform machines using a license server with the HP-UX OS. To use our recently acquired 6.0 license file for running both 6.0 and 5.4, can just the license file be replaced or will a new version of the Sentinel need to be installed? :?

Hi Steve,
We updated to SentinelLM 8.0 license server software (from 7.2). Fortunately for you, SentinelLM 8.0 works on HPUX 11.0 (and up), so your config your be just fine as-is.
You will need to stop using the current license server (the SLM 7 version delivered with VERICUT 5.4) and install VERICUT 6.0 and use its license server (SLM 8.0). You then apply the VERICUT 6.0 license codes from the license email you received. The standard HPUX installation of VERICUT uses SentinelLM 8.0, and can serve licenses to any valid VERICUT client platform.
Let me know if this answers your question or not.

Is there a way to install just the license server (Sentinel) portion of Vericut with the new license file without installing the entire application? Were using a temporary license which recently expired and were sent a new V6.0 license file. We are not ready for V6.0 to be installed but need to get V5.4 running again. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

And the other way: is it possible to run a license server on a Windows pc and to access these licences from an AIX version 4.3/4.4 with VERICUT 6.0?

Yes, the Sentinel LM server running on Windows can provide licenses to VERICUT on any UNIX system.

VERICUT may be unable to get a license in a configuration where VERICUT needs to get its license from the license server on another computer. This may be because the windows firewall on the license server computer prevents it.
