Hi. For those of us who have a large number of tools and machines to keep on track with, maintaining the tool libraries in VERICUT and our CAM softare could bring problems if they ever got out of sync. I will have to eventually maintain over 800 different types of tool if VERICUT is to become a important tool in helping us prove out CNC program changes. Could we investigate some easy way of migrating tool definitions from a CAM package such as MASTERCAM?, this would help maintain a lot of differnet files.

Take a look at TDM from Walter. It has an interface that works with Tool Manager.
You access tools from a database and import them into Vericut. You can then save them as a stand-alone copy if you like.
There are also interfaces for Pro/NC & Catia.
I create the the component drawings in AutoCAD for TDM and it creates assemblies which are included in a tool list. You access the tool list via the interface, which is good if you update the tool, the tool list is updated automatically.
There is a viewer for the shop floor as well. It is expensive software, but if you have large quantities of tool assemblies to keep track of, it's worth it.
