Hi,
Our machine tool libraries are 100% referencing components we put on a master library... this way we avoid the duplication of components across several libraries and improve the management/update of components used in several tools...
Well, when you define a VERICUT milling insert, you have the location aids to help you out... However, currently, when you reference this insert in another library, you don't have the locations aids anymore... the only way to position the insert is to do some math (Sometimes, depending on the insert shape and lead angle, you need a CAD tool to make the math for you) and use the translate/rotate tab to position the insert correctly.
We all know that a cutting insert can be used in a variety of tools, often with different lead angles and control diameters. A good example is the central and peripheral insert of a Coro-U drill... the peripheral insert is controlled by the O.D. where as the central one is controlled often by the center of the corner radius... and the lead angles changes from one drill to another...
So I'd like to ask CGTech to make the location aids available for milling inserts when they are referenced in a library other than the one where they are defined. The current workarounds are very counter productive and prone to error... location aids in referenced components would be a great tool...
