New User

Good morning everyone,

I am a new user to VeriCUT (V7.3) and I find it an immensely powerful tool. However, there is something about VeriCUT that is driving me up the wall, namely the complete absence of keyboard shortcuts.

I have chronic RSI in my right arm and to spare it as much as possible I like to set up keyboard shortcuts to execute using my left hand. I am not talking about dedicated shortcuts like "Ctrl+Shift+F10" of the like (but those would be nice)but more like key sequences that begin with "Alt" to access the menu bar and the letters to activate the lower levels (just like most Windows applications). Now, VeriCUT seems to have these secondary letters completely disabled.

Is there anyone aware of a method or work around that I can use to get the keyboard shortcuts I want?

Thanks

With VERICUT window opened and with focus if you hit "Alt" key then you can use the arrow keys to go right-left or down-up, once the desired sub-menu highlighted you can hit enter to execute the menu command

Thank you Mustapha. I had worked that out and it is better than driving everything with the mouse / trackball, but with the arrow keys on the RH side of the keyboard it is still a little awkward for using the my 'good' (left) hand.

However, I was rather hoping for a higher level of shortcut customisation, perhaps more along the lines of the shortcut options in SolidWorks / AutoCAD.

D you think it would possible to write *.BAT files to activate different command sequences and then associate them with a "ctrl+letter" command? I see that VeriCUT uses a lot of batch files to do what it does (why is that incidentally?) and this is an idea that crossed my mind over weekend.

Regards

Bob

Re: New User

Turned in in 2007.  Go ahead and submit it yourself.  Implementation = Value * number of users requesting  Don't have the old SCR number, sorry.   It would eliminate my need to support a startup script that has to ask a series of questions also.

We want to be able to capture a series of UI commands in a script or macro and be able to execute them. Similar to how Word or Excell macros work.
Store the definitions in the .vcproject file.
This would allow us to set up a few "macros" commands to allow us to quickly change the settings in Vericut for:
1. Quick processing,
2. More accurate processing with collision check.
3. Precision processing.
4. Document/picture creation.
5. Avi creation.

Currently changing Vericut for these tasks takes many UI commands under many Icons or menus. Allowing us to script a macro would make it so we could configure Vericut quickly for the various modes.

Re: New User

Thank you for that. I have spoken to CG Tech UK and they say they have submitted an SCR. We'll see where it goes (but I won't hold my breath). I like your "Software RULES!" I think I might print that out and look at it every time I feel like hitting my head against a brick wall to relieve the pain.
