I have imported a step model of a Sandvik Coromant twin tool (CNMG/DNMG turning tool) into my tool library. As this is a twin tool, it requires the tool to be offset in the Y negative direction (in this case 20mm) to achieve centre height for whichever tool is being used.
I assume therefore, that I have to use driven points. However, as the tool can have multiple driven points, how does Vericut know which driven point to use at any given time?
Also, the Y offset only works if the programme is programmed to move to Y0, and Vericut has a driven point of Y-20. However, the programme actually has to have Y-20. If I run the programme through Vericut using Y-20, the tool ends up being 20mm below centre height.
I'd appreciate any insight into this

if i'm not making a mistake,
vericut assumes driven point for their number, or order (I'm still thinking about it), here, I put the first driven point as 0 ( with 0 0 0) and vericut assumes this when I call the first preset, and as 1 ( as 0 0 20) and vericut assumes this point as the second preset.
I have never use driven point in other axis (X and Y) but I think it works at the same way,
are you turning off the tool corrector when you put Y-20???
With you move all your tool components (in the Assembly tab) -20 in Y coordinate I belive it will work.

Thanks for the reply. I have got the tool cutting to size, and now I have both driven point values. However, it appears Vericut only uses the first driven point. I want to associate the first driven point with one insert, and the other driven point with the other insert.
I tried renumbering the driven point to match the TL= number (offset call) for each insert, but it doesn't work.
I set the Y vlaue to 0 in the driven point, and let the programme position the tool to Y-20. This works fine. I did have to remodel the insert so it was flat. Vericut didn't like the insert having negative rake.

CGTech should include an example of this application in help/sample files.
MillTurn is more and more the way today. CGTech could do a lot more to support these machines with out of the box functionality.
