License server losing licenses?

Hi folks,

From time to time Vericut license server loses the licenses it distrubutes and when we try to open Vericut from the clients we get a error "There is a license server running but no licences...", or something like that. Then I have to remotely connect to the license server and run the .bat "Update licenses on the license server" and then it works again.... I don't need to stop the service or anything like that.. just run the .bat...

Using Vericut 7.0.3 on the clients and 7.0.1 in the license server...

The license server is 32 bits machine... / The clients run the 64 bits versions of Vericut...

Although the clients and the server uses different versions, I've this problem long before the update to 7.0.3, when both were using the same version.... In fact, I see this happening since V6..

Any insight?

Thanks

Re: License server losing licenses?

Are users allowed to remove licenses?

Re: License server losing licenses?

The WlmAdmin utility is installed with each Vericut installation, which allows removing the license.

I assumed, that the server is not accessible by regular users, but this utility is.

Re: License server losing licenses?

Hi folks!

I think we figured it out, (Thanks to CGTech support in Brazil)

The path for the license file (variable LSERVOPTS) was not defined in the server environment variables. The reason why the interval between the incidents were so big it's because we seldon restart our server. But once we did, upon the startup the Sentinel service could not find the license file, and therefore no licenses were available, although the license server was running.

I did not restart the server to check, but this explanation makes a lot of sense to me...

Thank you everyone that helped!

Daniel
