Hello to all. This is my first posting to the forum.
I am interested in getting your opinions and experiences on what you have found to be most benificial for training on VERICUT. Which have you prefered, the on-site or at CGTech training?
I have just a little experence with VERICUT and I am looking to become a "SUPER USER" so I may be able to create, tutor, modify, ect for other users at our location.
THANX in advance for your opinions.

Hi JS,
I recommend going to the CGTech training (5 days) and bring your files and ask allot of questions. That is how I got started. After that when you encounter a problem, contact CGTech customer support, they do an excellent job supporting their product.
Good luck!

I got to agree with Al. Going to the CG Tech Training is the best. The instructor (Ely) was willing to stay as long as you wanted. He took the time to answer any and all questions the best he could.
just my 2 cents.

I agree with Al_V and Joeyls319. The training course I joined was in Liverpool, UK. A very well planned and instructive course, with opportunity to discuss specific problems.

My 2 cents after many years in manufacturing.
Training should always be done at a location and/or time where the boss, shop or anyone else at work can't find you and drag you away.

From my experience as student and teacher over the years (in mfg. environment)... it is best to learn away from the workplace. In this case a CGTech classroom away from your work, peers, shop, bosses, etc. as vhubbard mentioned. You will learn much more and then you can take that back to share with the others as you mention. More bang for the company buck also.
Many companies will go the route of having an instructor come on site thinking they can throw more people in the training room since there is no travel costs involved, etc. It has the opposite effect from my experience. The one that needs the training usually will be the one getting called away, while the others are just warm bodies to fill a classroom.
Just my opinion.

As one of the senior trainers at CGTech, I thought I'd share another approach (actually a combo of both standard and onsite training). Many new and established customers opt for taking the standard 5-day VERICUT training course, then have specialized onsite training later. The main goal for the 1st phase is to learn the best uses for VERICUT, and what options capabilities they really need. The 2nd onsite phase is typically scheduled some weeks or months after the standard training, and allows users time to batch up questions through usage, and get some advanced machine building, OptiPath, or other specialized instruction.
Regardless of the training philosophy you adopt, it sure beats "trial and error" learning! --Gene
