multiple axis at maschine motion jog (MDI)

Hi,

maybe it is possible to extend maschine motion jog (MDI) for more than one axis.
I made a photo composition for an example => attachment.
Sometimes we have some really critical holes to dive in with a touch probe and the best way to try is with MDI, but it´s really anoying always to change the axis and the increment, so if there´s a possibilty to get more axis, i think it´s better, easier and faster.
Possibly it´s interactive, so with a plus-button i can create more than one axis (up to 5 or 6) and with a minus-button i can delete them again.

thx. and greets form germany

Re: multiple axis at maschine motion jog (MDI)

Interesting idea  :light bulb:

Now, I know that some machines, SNK for example, have a "L" axis, which is a jog up the tool axis, whatever it happens to be. A& B can be tilted, and this jog can back out an end mill or drill, straight out of a hole.   My guess is that would also assist your MDI checking, even if the machine does not have such an axis in real life. ........ So cross vectors, would also help you .... perpendicular to the tlaxis, left right, near, far.

I like it.

Best Regards

Dave,

This is a partial answer to what you want to do: in MDI, there is a choice in the axis pulldown menu for "Tool Axis". It will retract the machine along the tool axis regardless of the machine orientation
