Hi,
In our vertical lathe machines where we mostly cuts inside the workpiece (often complex castings between 400-1200mm diameter) it would have been very useful to have collision detection even in the Y-axis direction. A 2D-silhouette in the ZX-plane isn´t always enough. For example when the flanges are VERY close to each other.
My question: Have you planned to introduce 3D collision detection for lathe holders? I hope so... 8)
Best regards,

Hi Svante,
The "Machine Simulation" module already do it. The collision detection table has to be correctly filled and the "Collision detection" has to be checked :?

Hello Svante,
Please see my post in forum topic http://cgtech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=107.
As you can see, VERICUT does check 3D collisions with turning holders, in the workpiece view, with or without machine simulation. If you make a turning holder visible in the workpiece view then collisions will be reported with anything else visible in the workpiece view. There is not a graphical representation, only a log report and error count increment.
The only 2D logic is a portion of the algorithm that creates the 3D material removal in the cut stock.
