Tool Shank/Material Collision Only

Hi,
I would prefer to have a toggle button under Setup->Motion.
Similar to the toggle  Tool/Fixture Collision Only (No cutting), the toggle button is for Tool Shank/Material Collsion Only (No cutting).

Regards
Kanthavelan.

Re: Tool Shank/Material Collision Only

Hi Kantha,
This was implemented in VERICUT 6.0 a couple months ago. Holders/shanks do not remove material from the cut stock. Instead they create a volume that is imposed over the cut stock. You can still query and measure this volume. But you can also turn its display on/off.

This also solves the problem where the holder passes thru the same region a second time. In the current method, material is removed by the first holder collision (and reported), but the second collision is not detected because the material is gone.

Hi Bill,
Thank you very much for your reply. When V6 is expected?

Re: Tool Shank/Material Collision Only

Hi,
Now you're putting the marketing guy in a position to lie  big_smile  :!:

I'll give you my best guess, as long as you treat it as such. We plan to stop coding early this summer (current target is June 1). It takes us 3 or 4 months from the time we stop coding until we ship a release, depending on how many problems we uncover during testing.

So, I would not expect it before September.

Regards,
Bill
