Been using the new version for a few weeks now.
What's been improved?
Nothing from what I can see.
Menus have been moved around, some removed,.
Working through some features now take 3 steps
compared to 2 before.
Try to remember the old saying:-"If it aint broke, don't fix it"

Refreshing the GUI is mostly do to get the attention of new users.
What I really like is, that the dialog to edit an item selected in the tree view is placed at the bottom, this is really an enhancement for me.
On the other hand the gouge checking seems to be improved, since we do not get as much false gouges as before, but this might be due to migrating to NX6 too.
I still think the most important changes are done in areas, where the user does not see them, but should find out, when comparing versions side-by-side with the same project.

Never had an issue with gouges before and been using vcut since 2004.
Changes seem mainly cosmetic.
Basicaly it does not give any more than before.

One nice reason. The ability to pause the motion within a nc line.
When you go from x=0 to x=2500, you can press pause and it will stop instantly somewere in this motion. It used to finish the current line and then stop. I think it's handy.

I can agree that if you are using a CADCAM interface to transfer your files to VERICUT and do not have to setup your project file, you might not see a lot of changes.
But,I created the 7.0 training sessions and I have to say that the tree simplifies the steps to configure a job. You do not have the Apply/OK/Cancel buttons, the changes are instant. Everything is in the Tree, and the functions are grouped logically, for example: all the tool related functions are inder the tool branch like the holder display. I like the offset branch.
I would recommend going through 1 or 2 training sessions. They are under the Help menu. All the files are installed with VERICUT.
You can also look at the scope of the 7.0 changes in the release notes.

Give it time it will grow on you. You will know its better when you look at the old version one day and say, ugh, don't want to use that anymore.
We use Vericut function with detailed machine simulation, collision checking and auto gouge checking. 7.0 has been a big improvement for us. At the beginning the updated UI didn't seem much help to me (expert user) then I began to realize how much more access there is to many functions. I wrote a "Whats changed" page for our company to help with the UI updates and users figured out 7.0 fairly quickly. Some of the functions they really like aren't "new". They are now easier to find and use. They can get things done quicker with Vericut 7.0 and they use more of the software with less coaching.
7.01 is out and has all the updated training. That may be helpful also.
There are some significant enhancements to 7.0 besides the UI.
Nothings perfect, so keep turning in ideas to make it better, we all benefit.
