Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

Dear Team,

I am trying to use optipath on multiple setups with multiple machines and multiple tool librarys, but without sucess.

On First setup I have the Machine "A" and the Tool library "A". On Second setup, I have the Machine "B" and the Tool library "B". On the second setup, when I try to select the Optipath options, the following message appear: Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

After the first setup simulation, I already tried to modify the tool library from "A" to "B", but without sucess. Could anybody help me on this issue?

Thanks in advance

Daniel Krabbe

Re: Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

Hello Daniel,

The error message " OptiPath Cannot be used with multiple cutters" is not related to the multiple setups.
your machine has more than one cutter active. I can reproduce the error message by loading the 6.2 samples: cinci_3_spindle_gantry_5ax.vcproject and turn on OptiPath. OptiPath only works for 1 cutter on 1 stock.

Your best solution would be to modify your machine to only have 1 tool active for the optimization.

The OptiPath Setting is only valid for the active setup. If you turn on OptiPath in the first setup, it will only optimize the first setup and will turn off at the end of the first setup.

To optimize multiple setups, set VERICUT to stop at the end of each setup. Optimize the first setup, Step to activate the second setup, turn on OptiPath, Optimize the second setup and repeat for the subsequent setups.

Re: Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

Hello Serge

(thank you for your quick answer)

Yes, you are answering on good directions, but is not exactly what is happening (but I don´t sent enough informations...sorry). I started Setup 1 with a 3 spindles Gantry Machine and G-code simulation (perfect !!), however os setup 2, is another machine with just one spindle (one cutter tool at time), but is an aptsource OptiPath optimization, that don´t look for multiple cutters.

Is possible to you to simulate this situation ?

Thanks in advance

Re: Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

Hello Serge,

I did some modifications on CNC control of the 3 Spindles Gantry Machine (setup 1) to avoid to simulate multiple cutters and now Optipath is possible to be used on Setup 2 (aptsource simulation), and the issue is solved (thank you for the good directions). Please, try to simulate the first situation (Optipath on Setup 2 after multiple spindle simulation on setup 1) that I told and if the same problem happens, do a double check on OptiPath "logic structure" for future releases.

Thank you and Best Regards from Brazil

Re: Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

Daniel,

I could not reproduce the problem.
I think it would be beneficial to you to send an example of your problem to our Technical Support Department. They will assist you and quickly give you a solution.

Best regards,

Serge

Re: Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

Hello guys,

I was searching for an answer for this problem, because I am passing by a similar situation, but I, already, found part of the problem:

My machine has only one spindel and only one active tool, but when I open the settings of Optipath (Optipaht menu --> Control) this message appears, I figured that the problem was with the control.
I tried use the control sin840d, of the vericut's library, and it works, but when I use my control with my definitions the message appears.

Well, if anyone has any ideas???

Re: Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

to be sure that your control is not set to cut with multiple tools do the following:

Configuration > G-Code Processing...
Utilities > Find...
select the Macroname tab
in the field below the list of macros, type: SetVC  --- at this point, you will only have one macro in the list
select SetVCMultiTools
Select the search icon (binoculars)

-- If you find the macro, you can either delete it or modify the Override Value to 0.

Re: Optipath Cannot Be Used With Multiple Cutters

Thanks a lot, changing the override value to 0 the optipath control window opens normally.
