Can I setup Sentinal or the environment variables to point to one license server, and if that license is not available, it will try to hit another server in a different location.
We just bought 2 new licenses that are installed in Kansas City, including UG interface. I have another license server on the other side of the state, without the interface. I am going to have 3 operators hitting licenses as they travel, and I don't want them to have to change the license server computer env. variable every time.
I know with UG you can have the env. variable list 2 servers, and if the first one is not available it will go to the next one.
Is a situation like this possible, or am I just spoiled?

C:\Program Files\cgtech...\windows...\commands\cgtenv.bat includes the line that sets the LMHOST variable.
You can create two shortcuts pointing to two different C:\Program Files\cgtech...\windows...\commands\vericut.bat files, where each source its own cgtenv file or you change the default cgtenv file to filter the output of "NET VIEW" and set the LMHOST variable to the server found.

So when the first shortcut fails the user will just fire off the second one?
I am pretty simple, do you have an example of the second part of your reply? I am not familiar with filtering the output of "NET VIEW".

Forget all this complex stuff, it is much easier.
Sentinel LM System Administration Help shows how to specify multiple servers in the cgtenv.bat file.
Check the topic Configuring the License Server => Using Environment Variables to Configure a License Server => Client - Commonly Used Variables.
SET LSHOST=Server01:Server02
So the next time you set up a new client, just add both servers separated by a colon in the license server box of the installation utility

This is not working, I am guessing it is because I am not hitting servers that are in the same subnet.
Which ever server I list first is the one it is looking at. set lshost=server_x:server_y. server x is the one it is trying to open.
Is there a way I can add a server to the subnet group?
