create a cutting tool insert from a stl file

Is it possiable to create a cutting tool insert from a STL file.  When I select model in the tool manger window and go to browser to get the stl file select it and hit add nothing appears on screen.  Could be doing something wrong.  New to Vericut.

Re: create a cutting tool insert from a stl file

You can not use 3D model for inserts (cutting portion of the tool). But you can import a profile from a DXF file as insert. To do so, use the 'Sweep Profile' icon and the 'Import DXF' button.
For information, you can use STL files only for holders (non cutting portion of the tool)

I'm waiting for the day when Vericut supports .prt-files från NX or Step-files as cutters/inserts...
