I´d like to be able to catch the center/axes of cilinders/holes using either X-Caliper or assembly constraints. As is today Vericut create facets in cilindrical features that are machined using helical moves, so that the model features machined using this moves cannot be used to orient or mate/align the part for the next setups.
Does not matter which tolerance you use, Vericut create such facets. :x
Just my 2 cents,

You can create an axis system on those faceted holes
SETUP > coordinate systems> Define orient tab
in the middle is a pulldown menu. >>> select circle
hit the arrow
select the xy plane
select a facet
select x edge

Thank you Dave. Great workaround, but I still wondering when CGTech will make this possible. We cannot use X-Caliper to measure the radius either.

You can if you use g-code.
it will interpet the G02, G03 commands
x-caliper history on any G-CODE interpolated circle

Now that i think of it, some systems output CIRCLE records in their aptsource.
In NCL, i used to say something like SET / APTSRC, VERIFY.
I would get a CIRCLE records in the aptsource.
Hmmmmmmmmmm

You can use X-Caliper Air Distance. It will give you the diameter of the hole by picking the wall

Thanks Serge
I diden't know that
what I think Daniel wants is the the center axes of the holes, for mate and align.

After further review, I agree with your idea, that you should be able to do this in x-caliper
Since you can allready create an axis system on those faceted holes in defining coordinate systems, the same logic could be used in x-caliper.

Hi Dave
Thanks a lot for the feedback about this issue. Indeed.
Would be nice if CGTECH gives to Vericut the ability to see cilindrical surfaces machined through helical interpolation as cilindrical features.
Kindly,

Support of finding an arc, cylinder, diameter and centers for all applications within Vericut needs to enabled from faceted .stl files or arcs created by many straight line moves. Even with high speed processors, some of the newest high speed machines recommend only G1 moves for all cutting. G2/G3 are discouraged. "Arc fitting" many straight line moves in Xcaliper would probably need a tolerance factor that could be set by the user.
