Hi all,
Sinds my workstation was replaced by a new one I'm having major problems with my vericut display.
In the main window the complete system freezes sometimes when I manipulate a openGL machine view. Only solution is to pull out the plug.
But when I'm in tool manager every click I make takes between 10 and 40 seconds to process. When changing from another application window to the toolmanager window it takes about 15 seconds to repaint the toolman window.
Vericut is the only application that has this trouble.
workstation: DELL T7400 Intel XEON (Dual Quad core) E5420 2.5 GHz, 2,00 GB RAM
OS: Windows XP SP2 with Java 6 update 5
Video: NVidia Quadro FX3700 512MB (latest drivers)
Anyone have a clue what could be wrong?
Already re-installed Vericut, but still same behaviour.

How do you have the Quadro drivers configured?
We have found when 3D Global settings are selected for one CAD system (wont say which one here) AVI file creation has display problems.
The newer Quadro drivers now have an option to "let the 3d application" decide. You may want to try that.

Have "let the 3d application decide" active.
How ever I did find something.
When starting the tool manager from the main vericut application it behaves normal. When starting tool manager without starting vericut but with the bat file toolmanager.bat then it's all sqrewed up.
When adding tools I normally do it without starting Vericut.
Comparing the bat files vericut.bat and toolmanager.bat I saw that there was a completely different instruction for launching vericut/toolman.
(Difference in Java parameters)
So I copied the string from vericut.bat to toolmanager.bat with the correct parameter: ToolMan.
Started standalone toolmanager and it functions as expected!!!
Don't know why the launch command is different for the toolmanager but
now it works beautifully. :?

Still having lot's of misery with my display.
When opening an existing simulation with OpenGL machine view, the display driver craches (nVidia Quadro FX3700). Diagnostics on the driver indicate there is no problem and that it's up-to-date.
Messing with the Java parameters in Vericut.bat had no effect.
Adjusting the graphic card settings had no effect.
While playing with some environment variables in vericut.bat I found out that when I activate the variable CGTECH_OPENGL_CALL_LISTS=OFF
all display problems are gone!!! Simulation speed does not seem to decrease and I can still switch between OpenGL or No OpenGL.

In the documentation there's nothing written about the variables in vericut.bat.
Is there an overview of what does variables do??? and in perticulair the CGTECH_OPENGL_CALL_LISTS variable.

Since version 5.3 VERICUT can be configured to disable Display Lists when using an accelerated display. A "Display List" is a computer graphics technique where objects to display in a scene only need to be created once. Then the List is displayed and re-displayed, as needed.
When debugging a graphics problem, it is often desirable to divide the problem into smaller pieces in order to narrow where the problem actually occurs. In VERICUT , the display list can be disabled by setting the environment variable CGTECH_OPENGL_CALL_LISTS to NO, FALSE, or OFF.
This is for debugging purposes only. Setting this environment variable completely invalidates any reason to use an accelerated display, since the main performance benefit lies in VERICUT not having to recreate the graphical objects for each machine component for each motion.
However, turning this feature on/off helps identify where a graphics problem is occuring.
Note: A Cut Stock in a machine view can only be displayed using Display Lists. Therefore, when display lists are not used the cut stock is not displayed in a Machine/Cut Stock view
