Hi everybody:
I would like to know how everybody else position their vericut cutsock for the second setup in a separate project file ( given that the second setup uses all different angles for its setup entirely different from the first). Its a real nightmare for me whenever I try to do it...
Thank you all in advance for your replies.

That is THE question.
(1) try http://cgtech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=809
Geno put several video's there including this topic
(2) there are also training and videos that came with the instalation cd.
(3) Take a formal Vericut training course. You will get a lot out of it.
(4) the cad / cam interfaces help, (VERICUT -> Catia / UG / Mastercam) and they are not that much $ compared to the total bundle.

Thanks for the response Dave ..
If you watch that Vericut video closely, when they explain cut stock transition using Csys method and try to create a new Csys on the tooling Pin, then new Csys is not finding the centre of the pin. The accuracy depends on the STL translator. In actual practice, most of the time it will not work trying to create an axis system on the .VCT stock...Well if that is the case what do we do??? Well we have to do and we do it anyway... but I am just trying to get a feel of how everybody else deal with this issue.
For me I go with trial and error ~ eye ball ~ trial and error ~ measure stock design dist (vericut crashes very often trying to get the measurement) ~ trial and error.
This method is fine with me but takes an awful lot of time to get it right ...
How about everybody else ..... Is there any better way of doing this...???? :?

try Project + Coordinate System
in the upper right hand corner is a button [ CSYS from File ....]
that is the machine to aircraft ( oops sorry model) system.
check the apply inverse on update box and press Update.
that gets you from model to machine.
another way is with the interfaces.
What programming system are you using?

Hi Dave:
I'm using CATIA-v5. CAT-V will put the design and fixture in position but what about the .vct cut stock??? dont' we still have to position the cutstock from previous setup to current setup - that's where I'm having the trouble especially when there are translation angles involved.
I tried Csys From file ~ another window opened up asking me to specify an aptsource or punch file ~ Nothing happened when I pointed to previous operation .aptsource file. I tried to look up on the help docs but couldn't find much info. there either. If possible could u briefly explain how that works... Thank you.

Just move/rotate the stock component not the model in the downstream setups to represent the new desired location. VC will move the cut stock from one setup to another if the stock component remains the same name. I.E. "Stock"
The other good news is that you only need one stock model in the first file. The sticky point is if you want to check a downstream setup with the first setup being inactive.
You can handle that situation easy enough as well. Just save the cut stock to a file and then rename the stock component to a different name in the setup you'd like to start. Add that model to that setup and you can then just process from that setup. Hope that helps.
