Where do you enter specified minimum AUTO-DIFF tolerance ???

Where do you enter specified minimum AUTO-DIFF tolerance ???

the good book says:

Improve Cut Stock Tolerance — When selected, the Cut Stock is re-evaluated at a new
tolerance based on the specified minimum AUTO-DIFF tolerance. Having this box
checked affects the results from both the Fit to Memory and the Apply Regions Over
Entire Stock features. Typically the Comparison Tolerance is smaller than the Cut
Tolerance, so processing will take longer when Improve Cut Stock Tolerance is active.

The only area I see is Comparison Tolerance,
Gouge
[_________]

Excess
[______]

I allways thought of this as if I put in .003,   I only see gouges larger than .003 Is that where I enter the specified minimum AUTO-DIFF tolerance ????  :?  :?

Kind of peeling layers off an onion, from the inside out.

What I am really looking for is a File propperties cutting tolerance equivalant, cor Compare for Region.

does this come into play in surface mode?
the gouge  is greyed out in surface mode.

Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Where do you enter specified minimum AUTO-DIFF tolerance ???

Improve Cut Stock Tolerance — when selected, the Cut Stock is re-evaluated at a new tolerance based on the specified minimum AUTO-DIFF tolerance.

If the precision of the simulation is very coarse (File > Properties, Cutting Tolerance) the possibility that AUTODIFF will detect a small volume on a very large part might be very limited. But by selecting a very fine cutting tolerance, the simulation performance might be affected.

In AUTODIFF by region, you can select "Improve Cut Stock Tolerance". VERICUT will then reprocess the selected area at a finer precision that will allow the detection of the selected tolerance for either gouge or excess.

This allows you to simulate your part faster with a coarser cut tolerance and then refine the precision in the desired area during the analysis.

Re: Where do you enter specified minimum AUTO-DIFF tolerance ???

Thanks for the info, Serge
Now that I understand it, I would like to see an enhancement to the improved cut stock tolerance window.  Surprised?  yikes

anyway,  in my case, I have a part with 400 pockets, that measures, 100 x  160.
My cutting tolerance is .025, for regular Vericut, where I start out with the forging, and remove material.

Aftet running all the programs, I go looking for xs globs, using autodif excess mode, and the graphical display is such that is needs to be refined by using improved cut stock tolerance.

But I don't see enough control. in a way that I understand it.

the cutting tolerance was too good.

the imaged was a lot better than I needed, and it tool longer to process because of the tolerance being too tight.

since in the beginning, I started with a  cutting tolerance is .025, I would like to improve that in at , or .020, or .010.  Once I see the desirable improved cut stock tolerance, than I can use that value for areas as I need to zoom in, in several areas as needed.

What I would Like to see is:
the same kind of window for input as in the  File Properties, Tolerance tab

Than, in the Improve Cut Stock Tolerance area  if I put in .001, I would like Vericut to do it does in the start of the session, an say

"Current cut Tolerance of .001 requires excessive memory. a tolerance of .013643 will use aprox 6743 MB  of memory. Do you wish to use the adjusted tolerance value?"

I am sending this in to support, and will post the reply on this Thread
Thanks again.

I got this from CGTech tech support

Dave,

I submitted:

SCR ER 2478 Add Cut Tol field next to Improve Cut Stock Tolerance
