Hi Everybody:
While bringing multiple setups in the same project file, is there a way to view both setups duing simulation and also setup collision detection to components of both setups?
when I click on Setup 1. it becomes active and the other setup becomes invisible. Say I have multiple fixtures setup on the table and want to see if there are any interference with the neighbouring fixture.
As of now I bring in both the setups into a new project file and copy and paste the components of the second fixt. into the First setup
and position it inorder to setup collision. Is it the preferred way of dealing with such situations or there is a better way of doing things that I am not aware of ??? Please advice ..
Thanks
With Regards

If I understand you, you want to see if you are going to crash MF-2, while running pos-1.
Potentially, there could be fixtures from other setups, your are not even running in your program.
On my part I have 3 gantrys on one table. so I could hit the other part Joe is workin on on the next gantry.
The easiest thing would be to make all fixtures you are concerned about part of setup 1. Even if they are duplicated in pos 2 in a different attitude.
Another hot tip on 3 spindle machines, is to model all three part / fixtures in their proper place. I have seen some huge y move miss the part, only to hit the part on spindle #2
How about Gantry 1 hitting Gantry 2 ?
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, Dave
I see that you too are going by the same method that I did, the only problem with that is the file size.. Even 64bits are having hard time handling such huge files.
Just wanted to know whether that is the preferred way that CGTECH want us to do. Making multiple copies of the various components in the same Project file..!!
Thanks

Hello zac, you are setting VERICUT up correctly to detect collisions between adjacent fixtures in the same setup. VERICUT can only see what you have loaded in the active setup. The way I have done this in the past is to bring in all the fixtures into the setup that need to have collision checking. You can control which ones display in a Workpiece view by how you connect them in the Project Tree (assuming you are using V6.0 or higher). As you add (or copy/paste) setups, then all you do is manipulate the stock into the correct fixture for machining in that setup- all the fixtures are still there for collision detection in the new setup.
We've recorded a couple of mini-videos on working with multiple setups. I see that you have multiple questions on how best to do this. Have a look at the videos to see if they help. You will find a link to them in the Tips & Tricks forum. ~Gene
