I'm trying to work with 3 setups in one project.
Since the part is moving to 3 different machines and flipping about X, I need to use transition Axis like in Session 24 of the tutorials.
I am having one hell of a time getting this to work.
According to the instructions, I need to create an axis in each setup called the transition_axis and click the box that says "Use for Cut Stock Transition".
I also tried just saving the cut stock and doing it the old way.
Niether way works. It just keeps throwing me out of Vericut.
The 3rd transition throws me out when I do it using 3 setups in one project.
This is about the 5th part I’ve done since Vericut 6 came out and they have all been hell. It’s very hard to get from setup 1 to setup 2 as well.
And if I save the cut stock and try creating a new project for each setup, I get thrown out out of Vericut when I click single block or play.
This is a nightmare. Just to replay the first 2 setups takes hours. And I have to keep doing it over and over.
Is there a way to simplify this process? My brain hurts.

Roger,
Even though, you repeated you post, I will answer only once
Session 23 would be more useful. it shows you how to create the transition automatically.
With multiple setups here are the steps I use:
1) prepare all setups with machine/control/fixture/NC programs/tools
2) setup VERICUT to stop at the end of each setup
3)cut first setup
4) Step 1 block
5) the cut stock is moved into the second setup.
at this point the cut stock might not be oriented correctly. With the modeling window, position and orient the "Cut Stock" NOT the Stock component. once located, in the Model tab, select "Preserve Stock Transition".
This will create the necessary CSYS automatically and will be saved in the Project file.
6) once the stock is oriented, save an IP, this way you can come back at this point without having to run the first setup.
7) cut setup 2 and repeat step 4 to 6 as needed

Thanks for the reply Serge. I actually did get the stock to move over to the 3rd setup and I saved the ip file. But now if I select single block, my Vericut session crashes.

Roger,
If it is a crash situation, there is not much we can do on this forum. VERICUT should not crash. A lot of improvements were made in 6.0.5 and 6.1 to improve the stability of VERICUT. Make sure you have the latest version of VERICUT. If you have the latest version and still have problems, discuss it with Technical support.

Ok, I loaded 6.1 and got it to work.
No I have a new problem.
For some reason, when I start to run my program, the cut stock disappears and I get a message "Cut stock was unclamped and is temporarily saved in unclamped stock"
How can I get my stock back?
Offline
when moving from setup 1 to setup 2, the cut stock is moved from the previous setup to the active setup. It will be moved to a Stock component with the same name. If the name of the Stock component does not match the stock component name in the first setup, the first cut stock is moved to the first Stock component in the project tree.
If the active setup does not have a Stock component, ithe cut stock has no where to go. VERICUT creates a temporary component in the Component Tree called unclamped stock.

As far as I can see, the CutStock completely leaves the tree. Is there a way to make the CutStock stay usable?
Offline
make sure the setup has a Stock component. in the component tree, for the stock component, make sure the component type is really "Stock".
you get that message error when the cut stock is left unattached or when it gets attached to a component that is not a stock-type component.

I found that the Stock componant was under the Fixture in the tree. I dragged and droped it on the Attach branch of the tree. I'll see what that does.
Thanks Serge

Still didn't work, so I reran the first two setups with .03 cut tolerance and saved the cut stock. The VCT was 120 mb before and is 17 mb now.
I also reran CATV without using templates and just brought in the VCT the old way.
Works great now.
I'll try the multi setup project again next time.

The Catia V5 to Vericut interface will definatly help.
I think I paid 2 Large for it. thats not bad.
and it properly places things that were moved around with the catia assembly tools that move things like Snap, Offest, etc.
off topic, can you do something about Hillery, while you are in New York?

I used CATV. Is that what you are refering to?

CATV Is the name for V4 product
there is a v5 interface also.
we have both, and the UG interface.
Sometime i call v5 interface CATV, since CATV stuck in my head.
I got into a routine for multisetups before V6.0 came out, so I have not gotten projects with multisetups yet, but soon.
at VUE last year, it seemed that the v5 interface set it all up for you.
I bought it right after the Vue, with all that fresh in my mind
Now I am going to have to try these training exersizes myself, so I can see what your talking about.
