The Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandates that daylight savings time (DST) start and end dates change in 2007 in order to reduce energy usage.
VERICUT is a Java application, and the Java Run-Time Environment (JRE)maintains rules about DST times around the world. Thus the change in DST start/end will have the following minor effect on the Windows and UNIX versions of VERICUT 5.0 thru 6.0:
On US computers only, file date/times shown in VERICUT's File Selection Box will be off (compared to the operating system's time) by one hour for 3 weeks in the spring and 1 week in the fall. This assumes that the user fixes his system clock, either with an OS patch, or by manually adjusting it.
If you wish to correct the JRE delivered with VERICUT 5.0 thru 6.0 on Windows, or if you are using a JRE installed with the operating system, visit
http://java.sun.com/developer/technical … index.html
for information about how to adjust the JRE to match the new DST rules.
The adjustment is not mandatory and the consequences of not making the adjustment are minor and temporary. There are no other consequences for VERICUT.
VERICUT 6.1 for Windows includes a JRE adjusted for the new DST dates. For installations that use the installed JRE, either apply the adjustment indicated above to your installed JRE, or update to JRE 1.5.11.
