Hi
I've just started using vericut - couple of weeks - so I guess you can expect some pretty green questions coming this way - apologies in advance :mrgreen:
Anyhow I,m gouge checking a simple toolpath with CGC on with a tol of 0.002" and I'm getting a design violation.
I know for a fact that there's no gouges with this toolpath,so why do I get the error?
In fact I have to open the tol up to 0.015" to return no gouges???
Am I missing something?

I find that the resolution of your Design Model embedded below your Cut-Stock can have a big influence on 'Gouges'.
I import STL files from Solidworks and using a STL of about 10MB gives me good results for a tolerance of 0.05mm (0.002").
What format is your Design Model and what size is the file?

Hi,
The stl model (from ug) is a 6" sq , 10" extrusion loaded with waterlines , pockets , ,oring grooves etc.
and is pushing 15mb.
I'll try tightening up the design tol.

Are you tried to use Auto-Diff (without CGC)? And which results?

Another thing which might seem obvious but is worth checking. Are you sure the design is in the right place. (I mean exactly relative to the program datum).
Does all your gouges appear to be biased to one side? I had this before when I thought I was in the right place but was out of position by 0.1mm
I might be worth a double check?

what Version are you running?
Reason being, In V6, CGC changed dramaticly (for the better)
in older versions, file properties cutting tolerence and RAM effected things

Hi,
First of all thanks for all the advice
(Using V6.04)
Unfortunately I failed to get what I would call a satisfactory result from the cgc option ,so I used the auto-diff option instead and with the the help of support up here in the frozen north I checked the 'improve cut stock tolerance' within the 'compare by region' tab and this returned what I would have expected.
I Did, however, run out of virtual memory if the comparison tolerance was set to 0.0005"
