ATSU's

Hi all.

Does anyone know of a way of entering ATSU simulation into Vericut?
At present I just go to a position but this isnt proving sufficient.

For example. On the machine, a square turning tip with an ATSU of G50/51 will set(measure) the bottom left corner as the cutting point. G51/52 will set the bottom right as the cutting point. If the wrong G codes are entered, the wrong cutting point is selected(measured) and the job is scrapped.

Bearing in mind I'm on 5.4.3, but would be interested if there is a solution in later versions too.

Cheers...

Re: ATSU's

Hi Daniel,

I am not familiar with the term ATSU (automatic tool setup unit?). but it seems related to set a relationship with a portion of the turning tool.

You can set VERICUT to stop when a component touches another. Then you can extract the machine position and pass it to a variable.

Look in the sample, there is a file called probing.usr. there is an example of a tool length mesurement unit (milling tool) but a similar logic can be applied. It uses the macro Touch and TouchCompName. When Touch is called, it will move until the component specified touches another component.

The macro Probe is more precise but only works with a probe tool.
