Problem when using AUTO-DIFF

I met a problem when using AUTO-DIFF to compare the machined surface and the design surface.

Stock model (import):   a.iges with 0.2mm offset
Design model (import): a.iges

Comparison method: Surface
Comparison type: Excess.

In AUTO-DIFF report, the maximum excess is more than 0.3mm. It seems unreasonable becasue even the stock model has only 0.2 mm offset from the design model.

My questions are:
1. Why does this happen?
2. How can I improve the measuring accuracy in VERICUT?

Thanks for your interest.

Re: Problem when using AUTO-DIFF

Hello Susan,

1. Why does this happen?

When you offset the surface in VERICUT to create your stock, VERICUT only offsets the surface in the Z axis direction. When you verify in AUTODIFF with the surface method, it analyses normal to the design surface.

2. How to improve the accuracy in VERICUT?

in this case, if your stock model is really offset normally to the design, you will have to create your stock in your CAD system and import it in VERICUT
