solid or surface??

I am exporting solid geometry from Pro/E as STL into Vericut for all my holders, and turning tool inserts.  In 6.0, the tool manager window shows the tools very odd, like they aren't solid.  I guess there is a chance that they aren't solid, but i thought the STL format was solid by default....is there any way to confirm if they are solid or surface?  assuming they are surface files, how do I make them solid?  I tried polyfix, but It doesn't seem to do any good.

Thanks,

Mark-

Re: solid or surface??

Gerry Prete from CGTech fixed this for me, it ended up just being the normals set on the components, I modified each component and switched the normal and everything worked fine!!
