license server compatibility question

We are currently running vc5.44 with a network license manager.
The sentinal license service is running on our engineering server.
If I try to upgrade our current license to vc6, it say's it worked but wladmin shows no licenses.
If I try to install as new service, I end up with 2 competing sentinalLM services. Both of witch will run the 544 licenses but neither will run the 6.0 license.
I guess I need some guidance with the license upgrade process.

Re: license server compatibility question

Is your server a UNIX platform? if yes, please refer to http://www.cgtech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=409

For a Windows server:

In 6.0 We upgraded the license manager from SentinelLM 7.2 to SentinelLM 8.0.

Remove the Server Service for 5.4. Install the 6.0 server Service and start it. It will use the new license manager.

Re: license server compatibility question

Will 544 still work with the 6 license on the new service?

Still not working!
I've removed the 7.2 service and ran "configure license and setup service".
Dragged my txt file to the window and it reported that cgtech.lf was created successfully. Still no license in wladmin.
Open cgtech.lf with notpad and its empty, even though the modification time aggrees with the time I pasted the txt file to it.
I'm confused!

is it posible to do this on an NT 4.0 license server?
I was told I could, but when I tried it, it would not  install correctly.
If I tried to use the license server files only, they
not work either.
So will the new license service run on NT or does it need to be moved ?
