CATV fails due to change in CATIA V5 R17

Symptom
The user cannot change existing CATV settings when using CATV with CATIA V5 R17.

Cause
Due to a change in how CATIA V5 R17 manages "formulas", CATV appears to not retain or use changed settings entered interactively in CATV's dialog screen.

In R17, CATV only uses settings entered the first time. Once a CATV setting is made it can no longer be changed in R17. In CATIA versions prior to R17, existing CATV settings were replaced when changed.  In R17 the "formulas" that retain CATV settings are duplicated, not replaced, when changed. CATV is unaware of this duplication and only reads the original setting.

Solution
Download and use a new CATV that has been modified to recognize R17's changed behavior. The update forces CATIA to replace existing "formulas", and ignores any duplicates that may have been created by previous CATV's.

The updated CATV is available by downloading a zip file from CGTech's ftp site and extracting the files into an existing VERICUT installation.

For VERICUT 5.4, get the updated CATV at:

For VERICUT 6.0, get the updated CATV at:

ftp://ftp.cgtech.com/Download/pointrel/ … or_R17.zip

The zip files are password-protected. Contact CGTech Technical Support for the password. Be specific about which version since the password is different on each.

After downloading the appropriate zip file:

1. Exit CATV.
2. Rename the \cgtechXX\windows\CATV5 folder.
3. Unzip the downloaded zip file into the \cgtechXX\windows folder. This will create a new CATV5 folder and sub-folders.
4. Edit \cgtechXXX\windows\commands\catv.bat and add the line:
set CGTECH_PRODUCTS=%CGTECH_INSTALL%\windows

Note:The updated CATV for 6.0 will say "CATV 6.1" in the window title. But it will work correctly with 6.0.
