g code settings

Which file are the g-code settings (such as the cutter comp table) stored?
Is it the .usr file the .mch file or the ctl file.

I believe they get stored in the user file. I opened up a user file
and found the following :

MS_TABLES                               MSTABLE  BEGIN_MS_TABLE_LIST
                                                    BEGIN_MS_TABLE (Tool Length Compensation)
                                                    END_MS_TABLE
                                                 END_MS_TABLE_LIST
