Solution for broken 6.0 license process, fixed in 6.0.1

Note: the following only applies to the initial 6.0 CD you probably recieved during our mass-shipment to worldwide customers.

If you are replacing a 5.x installation and setting up the license server for 6.0, follow the instructions below. The instructions in the license email will not work due to a problem in the Configure License & Setup Server procedure.

1. Stop and Remove the old 5.4 (or 5.3) license server service by selecting Start > All Programs > CGTech VERICUT 5.4 > License Administration > License Server Only > Add or Remove License Server Service. Press the Remove button in the LoadLS panel.

2. Create the license file by selecting Start > All Programs > CGTech VERICUT 6.0 > License Server Only > Save License File from License Email. Either drag/drop an Outlook email or copy/paste the license email text into the Create License File panel.

3. Set the license file environment variable by selecting Start > All Programs > CGTech VERICUT 6.0 > License Server Only > Set License File Environment Variable.

4. Restart your computer.

If you are simply adding features to a 6.0 license, and 6.0 is already installed and the 6.0 license server is running, follow the instructions below.

1. Create the license file by selecting Start > All Programs > CGTech VERICUT 6.0 > License Server Only > Save License File from License Email. Either drag/drop an Outlook email or copy/paste the license email text into the Create License File panel.

2. Update the license server with the new license file by running C:\CGTech60\windows\license\update_license.bat.

For 6.0.1 the procedures are fixed and the wording on the license email instructions have been changed, hopefully it works better and is clearer now.

Sorry for the trouble,
Bill
