VERICUT 6.0 Crashes when copying Setups in the Project Tree

There appears to be a general problem associated with copying setups in VERICUT 6.0's project tree. The problem seems to be related to specific conditions, making it very difficult for us to duplicate and correct. VERICUT crashes when the problem occurs.

The typically reported sequence is:

Copy or import a setup into 6.0.
Do some other configuration actions with the setup.
Press Reset, Play, or Step
Crash

If you are seeing something like this, please post. If the steps seem to be different than what's described above, please indicate that as well.

As soon as we are confident that this problem is fixed we will release 6.0.1 with the correction.

Sorry for the trouble,
Bill

Re: VERICUT 6.0 Crashes when copying Setups in the Project Tree

I have been seeing a lot of these crashes that you talk about.  I can't really pin point it down to when/why it crashes as it seems to be pretty random other than the fact that it happens as you stated or when editing in the Project tree.    Sorry, I did not save any of the error logs, but they always point to one of two DLL files (ntdll.dll and cgtech.dll).  These crashes seem a lot like the crashes that were being experienced in the first beta version of VC6.

Re: VERICUT 6.0 Crashes when copying Setups in the Project Tree

Thanks Dave. We think we've fixed it in 6.0.1. All the cases where we could duplicate the problem now work successfully. The random nature of the problem lended to the difficulty reproducing, determining the cause, and fixing all conditions where the problem might occur.

We are doing the final install tests of 6.0.1 today. We should be duplicating the CD tomorrow, and shipping by end of the week. We'll also provide a downloadable zip file of the Windows installer on our ftp site.

Keep watch on our website, we'll announce 6.0.1's availability there.

Re: VERICUT 6.0 Crashes when copying Setups in the Project Tree

I updated to vc6.0.1 yesterday  (I was late sad in catching up to 6.0.1) because of the crashing problems with 6.0.
I can say, vc6.0.1 is better than 6.0, but I still had a crash this morning. It happened in the middle of a program while cutting (no tool collision, i didnot press stop, single block etc). I was just viewing the NC program motion on another monitor, while Vericut is running.

The only way I could close the vericut window is by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and ending the process.
After the crash, I couldnot open the previous inprocess file also, as it said "Errors in opening the inprocess file".

In case I see another crash, what would you need from me, log file or error log? And can you give me the location where I can find these log files?

Any thoughts what I did wrong??   :?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks
