Problems/solutions for VERICUT 6.0 on Windows XP64

There are 3 problems preventing you from successfully running the 64bit VERICUT 6.0 on Windows XP64.

1. The Desktop Shortcut (VERICUT 6.0 (64-bit)) points to the 32bit run script. So, even though you installed the 64 bit software, double-clicking on the icon runs the 32 bit executable. To correct this, right click on the icon, select properties, and change the target from 'windows' to 'windows64':

C:\cgtech60\windows64\commands\vericut.bat

Your install path may be slightly different.

The start menu button correctly points to the 64 bit VERICUT script.

This desktop shortcut points to the correct script in VERICUT 6.0.1.

2. You need to install the Microsoft 64 bit C++ run time environment. This is not distributed automatically by Microsoft. A copy of the installer is located on CGTech's ftp site at:

ftp://ftp.cgtech.com/Download/pointrel/ … st_x64.exe

Administrator privledges are required to install this.

You do not need this if you have Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2005 installed (not likely for most VERICUT users).

This file will be distributed on the VERICUT 6.0.1 CD.

We are looking for test sites to make sure the installer works in general. If you try this please post your results here in the forum.

3. We placed a pre-release executable on the CD, instead of the released version. This does not pose a specific problem, but the window title will say "VERICUT 6.0 Pre-Release" when you run it. And the library file date will be different in the Help > About VERICUT panel.

The correct "released" executable is on the VERICUT 6.0.1 CD.
