How to detect the effective cutting depth when using a bull nose tool?

When using a bull nose cutter and setting the Axias depth of cuts of cutting limit, when milling to the sidewall, the maximum reported actual cutting depth may be cutting depth+R, but other positions are normal. The actual detected value is measured along the tool axis direction, that is different from I want. How can I exclude R?

Or is there any other solution, such as measuring the cutting volume along the normal direction of the bull nose, measuring the bottom and R of the bull nose tool along the normal direction.
