We would like an option, probably under motion setting, that would detect Feed mode moves in the air. There would be settings for distance and Feed mode value. Some programs use a high feed rate move for positioning moves. We need to set an upper limit for what we want to check as a feed rate move.
Example Error on Air Feed. (Checkbox) Distance, (.5) Feed (200.) With this enabled:
Any feed move under 200 would be checked.
Error any time a feed move never cuts.
Cutting feed moves that cut would use the distance value, example .5.
Any feed move that is more than .5 and .5 or more of the move is "in the air" would cause an error. This would catch retract, plunge or cutting moves that are moving unwanted distances in the air.
This would help pinpoint areas that need adjustment for optimization.
This is different than Optipath which adjusts feed values based on load. This generates errors or warnings based on air moves.

Great idea!
This could identify areas that are "known to be cutting nothing".

Hello Dave
(I think that I meet you at Forrest shop in the last January)
1) I am also an optipath fan. We have two licenses in our CAM area and I am sure that we will still running optipath also if this feature will be implemented.
2) This new feature looks great for me because we can quickly check if the NC program have "excessive air cutting". For example, sometimes we subcontracted the NC programs and is more one way to check if the NC program are "inside" of a main recomendation procedures
I have plans to travel from Brazil to USA to watch the next VUE. I am sure that is a good oportunity to improve the main knowledgement.
Thank you and best Regards from Brazil,
