Creating tools with the same number

Hi All I'm brand new here.  I've been using Mastercam for 14 years, and now am learning Vericut.  We have a Okuma Macturn 350, which is basically a turning and milling machine with 2 turrets and 2 spindles.  Right now I'm just trying to create tools.  The problem I'm having, is the lower turret, the tools are stationary and do not get changed we use tools 1 - 7.  The upper turret is where we can change tools.  Well those tools are 1 - 50.  We have already drawn the lower turret tools, and now I'm working on the uppers.  But I can't create a tool number 1 because Vericut says it already exists.  Can anybody help ?

Thanks all !
Frank

Re: Creating tools with the same number

Hi Frank,

In this type of configuration the lower turret tools are normally named T0101 etc.

Then using Turret Setup in the Tool Manager you can create the turret using those tools (T0101, etc).

This creates a Tool Assignment list which cross references the tools loaded to the Lower turret.

If you are using Machine Simulation then you may need to contact your local CGTech Support office as changes to the control file may be required.

A good example of this can be found in the Samples Directory under Mori_Seiki and open the mori_seiki_mt2000sz_alpha1.vcproject
