Tool File Saved in Ver7.0.3

Hi Everybody:

We just noticed that the .TLS file saved in Version 7.0.3 causes the Shank field of the tool and Length of Cut to change to Zero when opened in Version 6.4.

Unlike the .mch and .ctl file the .TLS file does not prompt while saving in V7.0.3 that it is converting the tool file.

It looks like a bug to me as the file is interchangable between versions.

Anybody else have that problem, or is there a fix to it already other than moving to V7 altogether forgetting the good old Version6 tongue

Best Regards

Zac.

Re: Tool File Saved in Ver7.0.3

Unfortunatly, the VERICUT files are not interchangable between versions. We make sure all files are upward compatible, but because we always add new features, we cannot maintain the compatibility in older versions.

The tool library did not have a check for the file version. This is why you could open your 7.0 file in 6.2. But because 6.2 could not read all the new 7.0 formats it failed to work properly. We added this check to VERICUT 7.0 (since we cannot add it to older software) and it will not open a newer version that your current one.

Since you can open the file in 6.2, try to repair the file to have the correct features and save it in 6.2. This should remove the unsupported codes as it writes it to the current version.
