Importing a .cgr model

Hello folks!

I was wondering if there is any way to import a .cgr model (saved from V5 Catia) into Vericut?

We often have different machines running different operations, and being able to import a partially completed model (.cgr - from Catia)  would give us a better representation of what we are actually working with.

I know these .cgr files are not that accurate for actual analysis, but it would give us a better machine simulation if we could at least use it for collision detection.

Thanks!

Importing of .cgr models is currently not supported, sorry. BillH or Serge maybe able to add more detail about this.

Re: Importing a .cgr model

Can you save an .stl file from Catia instead?
This is how we do it.

Re: Importing a .cgr model

The only options CATIA V5 will allow, after a video replay of the programmed tool pathes, are to save the video Result, or to save the video Result in a .cgr file.

This was just an attempt to use the CATIA simulation output as a starting point for Vericut. It would have saved reprocessing the preceding program(s), running them through Vericut, and then saving the consequent IP file for use in the program in question. The Vericut route would still be the more accurate method, by far I'm sure, it can just take a little time.

Using (Digital MockUp) DMU Optimizer in Catia, a CGR can be converted into STL.
DMU Optimizer> Use Simplification or Merger Tools etc.
I couldnot dig into the differences between all the tools. But using Merger, the size of the file is smaller. That worked for my application.
