Space Ball / Space mouse on Windows XP64

Space Ball / Space mouse will not function with VERICUT 6.0 on Windows XP64. We are investigating a solution. It will be available in the next release of VERICUT.

Re: Space Ball / Space mouse on Windows XP64

I just got this from my IT dept

I just spoke with Steve from3Dconnexion and they do not have a x64 driver that supports your Magellan Space Mouse. You will need to submit a purchase request for a new USB space mouse

Is any one sucsessfully using a serial space mouse?

Re: Space Ball / Space mouse on Windows XP64

Most of our devices are USB but I found a dusty serial Magellan/Spacemouse.

I tested it on our development 64bit platform with 6.1.2 and it works correctly.

From the 3D Connection Help about:

Device Type: Spacemouse Plus
3DxWare version: 5.9.2
Firmware version : 6.60

Yes, I am using serial spacemice on Windows XP x64.
You will have to purchase an USB one only for Vista, since there is no support for serial ones on Vista.

To get the correct driver for the serial devices go to the download page at http://www.3Dconnexion.com and select:

  1. Spacemouse Classic USB

  2. Windows XP/2000/Vista

  3. 3DxSoftware64 2.8.2

This is an older driver supporting USB and Serial devices on 64-bit Windows big_smile

Works with Unigraphics and Pro/ENGINEER too.

Re: Space Ball / Space mouse on Windows XP64

Serge,

I.T. Installed v2.8.2.

it still did not work
( what is firmware, could that be the problem?)

My It dept called 3Dconnexion again and that version (5.9.2) is no longer on 3Dconnexion’s website and they said 2.8.2 replaced it. They are moving away from supporting serial devices…  roll

It look like I am on the road to getting a new USB space ball, but that could take years, and cost millions of lives,

do you know any way i can get the 5.9.2
if it Vorks for you it should Vork for me. big_smile

Re: Space Ball / Space mouse on Windows XP64

Did the IT install the correct driver :?

I have just tested with the oldest of our Space Mice and it was working correctly with VC 6.1.1 64-bit :?

Here is what Help => About in the 3Dx Control Panel showed:

 3DxWare Version: 5.9.2
Firmware Version: 5.49
     Device Type: SpaceMouse Classic

Be sure to use the 64-bit version of VC, since there might be only limited support for the 32-bit version of VC from 3DxWare(x64).

I do not think this is related to the firmware of the 3DxDevice, but related to the installed 3DxWare version.

I have just downloaded the correct version as described in the previous post.

Re: Space Ball / Space mouse on Windows XP64

I dont think so .... since it is diferent and not working.

it is possible that it is the hardware.

the spacemouse IS working with 5.4.5, and catia.

anyone know how to get version (5.9.2) ? :?

My It dept called 3Dconnexion again and that version (5.9.2) is no longer on 3Dconnexion’s website and they said 2.8.2 replaced it   :x

3DxSoftware version 2.8.2 contains 3DxWare version 5.9.2, the software version is not related to the driver version !!!

You can download it by yourself as described above.
